Philology is the study of ancient texts and languages. The term
originally meant a love (Greek philo-) of learning and literature (Greek
-logia). In the academic traditions of several nations, a wide sense of the
term "philology" describes the study of a language together with its
literature and the historical and cultural contexts which are indispensable for
an understanding of the literary works and other culturally significant texts.
Philology thus comprises the study of the grammar, rhetoric, history,
interpretation of authors, and critical traditions associated with a given

Fast food is one of
those subjects that seems to provoke a lot of debate in people – those who eat
it and those who advise us against it. But the industry is booming, and there
doesn’t seem to be any shortage of new fast food outlets opening...so it can’t
be all bad, can it?
Those who drink alcoholic beverages may want to rethink their drinking
in light of the many warnings about smaller amounts of alcohol use. The alcohol
industry and the media have portrayed one glass, even two glasses, of wine or
beer as not only safe, but possibly healthy. They tell the public that there is
only danger when the use of alcohol is excessive or abusive. Money, politics,
